Want to make a difference and have your say?

The NSW Jewish Board of Deputies is holding its annual elections and it is specifically seeking candiadates between the ages of 18-35.
The Board is the only elected representative body of the Jewish Community and it needs an injection of youth to ensure its continued success. The Board specializes in public advocacy but also focuses on other issues that affect the Community such as social justice, education, Holocaust remembrance and combating anti-Semitism and discrimination.

The Board is very active in a number of areas in the broader NSW Community—however, it takes a special interest in promoting inter-faith understanding and in combating all forms of racial discrimination, against any section of Australian society.

If elected, you would become a member of the Plenum. The plenum is like the parliament—it votes on the recommendations of the Executive and various committees and allows you to put up your own motions and recommendations to the Board. As a Deputy, you will also have an opportunity to form your own taskforce focusing on specific issues that are of importance to you.

People our age are very time poor, however your involvement with the Board would be flexible-- you can participate as much or little as you want.

Becoming a Deputy is your chance to be part of the decisions and the debates that shape our Community. It is a very worthwhile way to give something back.

The nominations are now open and will run until October 20th. There will then be a postal vote with the successful candidates announced in November.

If you are interested in becoming a candidate in the upcoming elections please contact the Board’s Honorary Secretary, Jeremy Spinak at jeremy.spinak@nswjbd.com. for more information
