Is there a formula for happiness?

Yes, according to polling group Gallup—and being Jewish helps. Gallup drew up a list of what factors—income, work environment, age, etc—make people the happiest. The happiest groups are tall people, Jews, Asian-Americans, men aged over 65, those who are married with children, and successful independent business owners. Hawaii, was, unsurprisingly one of the happiest states. The New York Times sought out someone who falls into all these categories, and therefore must be the happiest American. Indeed, Hawaiian Jew Alvin Wong confirms that he is "a very happy person."


Amazon's Kindle: A Made-in-Israel story

The hit e-book reader that has been flying off Amazon’s virtual shelves this year has Israeli software engineers to thank. An article by Israel 21c says a Hertzliya-based branch of technology company Sun designed Microsystems the special Java-based software that runs the e-book. Israel is a major center of technological innovation. Among the fruits of its high-tech advances are instant messaging and special Shabbat gadgets.
