JewishCare's family Support Program
volunteer opportunties
JewishCare’s Family Support Program has a wide range of volunteering opportunities. We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers who would like to make a valuable contribution to our community. A minimum commitment of one year is required. We provide intensive training and ongoing supervision.
The main area of need is ongoing family support. We ask volunteers to visit a family on a regular basis in the afternoons. The volunteer’s role would be to provide the family in crisis with both practical and emotional support.
Another important role for a volunteer could be to assist children with their homework. We’d ask the volunteer to meet the child in the afternoon and help with reading, spelling and mathematics.
Sometimes all our clients need is a friendly person to drive them to an appointment, mowing a lawn, help with shopping or simply making phone calls.

Gift of Life
Save a life.. join the Bone marrow Donor registry today
Right now there are Jewish patients diagnosed with blood diseases such as leukaemia who will die without a Stem Cell (blood) or bone marrow transplant. Gift of Life Australia is encouraging more people in our community to understand the issue and register as potential donors – to save lives.
Joining the Australian Bone Marrow Donor Registry through having a simple blood test is the first step in making a difference and saving a life. We call it giving the “Gift of Life”!
One in three people will have a relative with matching tissue. However if a suitable donor is not found in the family, a search for an unrelated donor is necessary. Since tissue types can be linked to ethnic origin, people who share the same ethnic background are more likely to be compatible. And that is where your help is needed.
If you are between 18-40, we invite you to join the register today.
